Oktoberfest

Celebrate Hickory’s proud German heritage at the annual Oktoberfest, taking place October 9–11 in Downtown Hickory. Co-founded by German-born Adolphus “Dolph” Shuford, this beloved festival reflects the area’s deep-rooted connection to Germany, including its partnership with Altenburger Land and the presence of several German companies headquartered in the region. The weekend features multiple live music stages, lively beer tents, and a wide variety of food and craft vendors serving everything from traditional German favorites to local specialties. Families can enjoy Kidsfest with activities and entertainment designed just for little ones. It’s a spirited, three-day celebration filled with music, flavor, and community tradition in the heart of Hickory.
