The Green Room Community Theatre

The Green Room produces 9 to 10 shows each season in the McCreary Theatre, the intimate Butler Black Box Theatre, and Southside Park for Shakespeare in the Park. The theatre offers something for everyone, from large-scale musicals and classic plays to family-friendly productions and experimental works. An all-youth show is featured each season, and family-oriented productions provide opportunities for multiple generations to perform together. The theatre also embraces inclusive and diverse casting to ensure its productions reflect the broader community.

Beyond its productions, The Green Room is committed to fostering arts education. The Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute offers students from kindergarten through 12th grade an immersive experience in classical theatre. The theatre also hosts a Musical Theatre Camp each summer, where young performers explore musical theatre through singing, dancing, and acting. The Green Room is also home to The Green Bean Players, an adult troupe that brings classic fairy tales and stories to life for young audiences through interactive and engaging shows. The troupe also tours to local libraries, spreading the magic of storytelling to even more communities.

In addition to these programs, The Green Room strives to make theatre accessible to everyone. Its weekly Creative Works classes provide a fun and supportive environment for young performers to develop their craft and grow creatively. As part of this initiative, the Limitless Theatre for Exceptional Actors class puts on a performance each semester and tours to libraries, offering teens and adults with special needs the opportunity to engage in the magic of theatre in an inclusive and supportive setting.
